BIO

I am Afroditi (in Greek: Αφροδίτη),  born and raised in Greece, living in Switzerland since 2010. I am an engineer and an artist and this is defining and explaining  almost every aspect of who I am:  I am processing this world with the brains of an engineer, perceiving everything as pieces of machinery that function together. I am explaining this world with the heart of an artist seeing symbols everywhere and craving for hidden meanings.

In my artwork you will see the elements of time, constructions and nature. I use time to depict the irreversible of actions, constructions for the human creations and nature for randomness.  What inspires me is the way that humans interact with their surrounding conditions to create a meaning beyond randomness.

My attitude and the message I hope to express with my stories is that we can play the cards that are randomly dealt in every round to the best of our ability. With the bravery and naiveness of a child. This is why I love images and hints pointing to childhood and rough swipes of color.

I paint ever since I remember myself, and I have a strong memory! I would not continue painting if I could not communicate my art. Every time that someone can reflect on my art, it gets a new dimension of life.
